Another beautiful park along the north shore. A great park to visit if you only have a little time. Trail right off of hwy 61. A bridge over the river is a great vantage spot for pictures or just listening to the water going over the falls

Awesome hikes along the river gorge with waterfalls and potholes (of the geological type) to enjoy. The campsites are spaced far enough apart from one another and nicely wooded, though the ones closer to the highway get plenty of road noise (reserve a spot closest to the lake, if you can). Vault toilets are well-maintained and the flush toilets and showers are great.

Easy hike along multiple falls. Spectacular in both summer and winter, although winter can be slippery so use caution. Pedestrian bridges over the river allow for great views of the river as well as Superior. In the summer, if you continue hiking past the majority of the fall (~20ish minutes from the road) the river flattens out and is calm/shallow. Great area to wade in the water and cool off from your hike. Entrance and parking is located directly along Highway 61.

I wouldn't call Temperance River the crown jewel of state parks in the North Shore, but its waterfalls are worth a stop. Camping near the beach is a perfect place to stay. It's one of the closest places to camp near the big lake. Sunrise is good here during winter and works well for photography from September through April. During the summer, it rises too far inland. When doing the waterfall hike make sure to continue past the top of the first canyon area about a mile along the flats of the river to the second canyon. It's more photogenic.

Camped in cart-in spots @ the lower campground. Outstanding camping spot and park. Quiet and somewhat secluded, all I could hear were the sounds of the lake. Spring water was a stone's throw away.

A wonderful park and time of the year
