Lamb's campground has been in good hands for many years now. Rather than just keeping the place operational they put their money back into the business year after year to always make improvements for the benefit of their guests. Will you find an occasional thing that could use some attention, sure, but you could say the same for things anywhere else you stay as well. Keep in mind that your 'trying to get away from it all' by staying at a campground in a small town in the middle of the Superior National Forest. So for me, there is no place better to make your base camp than Lambs as you explore all that the area has to offer with its charm and natural wonders. Happy trails!
Terrific little private campground directly on Lake Superior. They have a wide range of sites ranging from primitive to electric and water sites for RVs to small cabins. Many of the primitive sites have decent trees and foliage around them and several allow you to put up your tent right above the lapping waters of the lake. Additionally the staff are very friendly, there is an old school video arcade near the office, and you are only a short climb up the hill away from coffee, pastries, and other food.
We had a 24' camper trailer and stayed in site D. No view of Superior but a nice secluded spot. Nice on site showers. Short walk to the beach and some really nice trails. Definitely coming back.
I've stayed at Lamb's Resort a few different times and have never been disappointed. I'm definitely a more rustic style camper, but my wife (who is new to camping) really enjoys some added comforts, and lamb's resort delivers. The bathrooms and showers are very clean with plenty of hot water. The staff is extremely nice, and knowledgeable of the area. The lakefront is beautiful and sites are decent sized with a fair amount of tree coverage. If you're tenting and can't get a lakeside lot, get site 69. It's rather private with trees covering 3/4 of it. Resort is close to Temperance River State Park so you can easily drive up the road and hike the falls and if your up to it, take the Superior Hiking Trail to Carleton Peak (long but worth the hike). Overall I would highly recommend Lamb's Resort to anybody looking for camping with some added comforts.
We had a beautiful time at Lamb's Resort, first at cabin six, which had a beautiful location to see the lake and the Milky Way. Then cabin 16 which was very homey and private next to Cross River, we loved it there. Staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful (especially John & Sandy). We hope to come again.
